Visitation of the Blessed Virgin Mary  Parish was established in 1867

 

Our ancestors labored to build our first church and school in the late 1800's.  Like our faith, those structures remain strong and still reliably serve us today as we join together in celebration and prayer.

Visitation Inter-Parish School

  • Late 1800's: Fr. Henry Kuennen helped establish 1 one room wooden frame Building
  • 1898: First nuns from Sisters Adorers of the Most Precious Blood arrived
  • 1916-1926:  Present School was being built  and officially opened in 1926
  • 1933:  Local School District Joins with Visitation Parish
  • 1936-1943:  The gym in the school was used for the Vienna Public High School Basketball Team
  • 1956: First Lay Teacher was hired to teach
  • 1985: School Name changed from Visitation Parish School to Inter-Parish School.  One third of the students were from neighboring parishes.
  • 1989:  After 91 years of services, we no longer have the Sisters Adorers of the Most Precious Blood as Teachers
